Consultant - Imaging
Informatics Consultants are high level technical experts for Radiology
Informatics which includes the Radiology Information System (RIS),
Image Archive System (PACS), diagnostic workstations, and dictation
application. Informatics Consultants monitor and maintain the
integrity of data in system by: updating dictionary entries, merging
records, resolving exceptions, and managing the interfaces between
the several Radiology systems. Informatics Consultants provide
management decision support by extracting historical data from
the information systems and creating custom reports

Informatics Consultants are responsible for health care clinical
application systems. Informatics Consultants roles includes analysis,
implementation, modification, training and problem resolution
for new and existing clinical application systems. Informatics
Consultants serve as a resource, advocate and liaison to nursing
management and staff in the areas of computer applications and
computer training. Informatics Consultants provide the skills
and tools to support planning, coordination, communication, project
management, implementation, and problem resolution relating to
clinical information systems. Informatics Consultants coordinate
between clinical departments, application and service vendors,
and other Information Technology resources both internal and external.
Informatics Consultants support the mission, values, and goals
of the organization. Performs all duties in a manner which promotes
a healthy team concept, excellent customer service and best practices.
Informatics Consultants escalate critical issues to the Director
of Information Technology. Clients of Information Technology span
multiple specialties including various hospital departments, physicians,
clinics, and other strategic partners. A Bachelor's degree in
nursing or other related field desired of the Informatics Consultant.
A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
or other related area is beneficial. Meditech Client/Server application
training is desired. Knowledge of the concepts in CQI/TQM/Quality
Assurance and project managementare required. Related technical
and clinical systems training or equivalent experience is desired
of the Informatics Consultant. Examples could include but are
not limited to Microsoft operating and systems and applications,
or other related informatics application training.
